Cardiology can sometimes be a challenging condition to diagnose and manage for the busy first opinion vet. Vets are facing the challenge of supporting worried owners, who usually only have an understanding of how heart disease effects people. There is a definite need to provide clear communication about the issues surrounding canine heart disease, the prognosis and instill confidence that they are providing an accurate diagnosis.
Along with HeartVets, Vetoquinol hosted a CPD day event focussing on canine cardiology at Woburn Safari with over 30 practicing vets in attendence. Jo Harris and Dave Dickson, both recognised specialists in veterinary cardiology, shared their experiences and practical training on the use of electrocardiogram (ECG) and radiography for 1st opinion cardiology cases. Attendees then enjoyed exclusive access around the safari park and had the chance to walk around spotting animals during breaks and lunch.
Vetoquinol has been working with a number of cardiology specialists in the UK to help vets with these sometimes difficult cases and have produced a wealth of information available to you on our UpLife platform – Register for free on on www.UpLife.uk
